LANDSCAPE - TRAVEL - PHOTOGRAPHY
About Jonny France
My mission is to visit and photograph as many of the amazing landscapes on our planet that I can.
I’m a UK based photographer with a passion for travel and landscapes.
I’ve always been inspired by travel - even my final art degree exhibition focused on Italy (which I visited extensively during an eight week trip with the money I received from my 21st birthday).
In truth, the original plan was to be an artist but since graduating from Hull School of Art & Design in 2003, I’ve spent the last 20 years designing for brands in the sport and entertainment space. ‘Time flies’ and ‘everything happens for a reason’ as they say, but I honestly wouldn’t change my journey - I’ve met some great people that have influenced me both personally and professionally.
I have an obsessive nature with an eagerness to learn so I recognised early that photography offered a good substitute for art. It provided the perfect combination of adventure, creativity and a way to be completely present. It ticks so many boxes.
The first camera I ever bought was a Fuji Finepix S5000 using a graduate loan (shake of the head) for a trip to Kruger N.P. in South Africa. I can remember the exact time I caught the photography bug - it was a photograph of a leopard (after watching it clean its paws following a kill). The lighting was incredible and I was hooked.
I’m now firmly a Nikon man, currently shooting with a Nikon D850. Although some might say dated (2017), it’s a workhorse that stands up to all environments - famous last words… but it hasn’t let me down yet.
Above all, I hope you enjoy my photography and if you leave feeling inspired to travel, or to pick up a camera, then even better!
