ABOUT ME

I’m Jonny France — a UK-based landscape photographer with a deep love for travel and the outdoors. My mission’s simple: to explore and photograph as many of the world’s incredible landscapes as I possibly can.

Travel’s always been a big part of my life. Even back in art school, it was the driving force behind my creativity — my final degree show was inspired by Italy, after spending eight weeks exploring the country with money I was gifted for my 21st birthday. The original plan was to be an artist, but life took me in a different direction. Since graduating from Hull School of Art & Design in 2003, I’ve spent two decades designing for brands in sport and entertainment. As they say, time flies — but I wouldn’t change any of it. Along the way, I’ve met some brilliant people who’ve helped shape who I am, both creatively and personally.

I’ve always had an obsessive curiosity and a need to create — and photography became the perfect outlet. It gave me the adventure I craved, the creativity I missed, and a reason to slow down and really look at the world. It just clicked, literally and figuratively.

My first camera was a Fuji Finepix S5000, bought with a graduate loan (probably not what it was meant for…) before a trip to Kruger National Park. I still remember the exact moment I got hooked — it was a leopard, backlit in golden light, cleaning its paws after a kill. That one frame changed everything for me.

These days I shoot with a Nikon D850 — not the newest kid on the block, but it’s a solid workhorse that’s followed me through all sorts of conditions without missing a beat.

More than anything, I just hope the images here make you want to get out there — whether it’s to travel somewhere new, or simply to pick up a camera and see the world a little differently.
